The Effect of Folic Acid on the Toxicity of Its Analogue

چکیده
E VER since Woods’ described a competition between sulfanilamide and paraaminobenzoic acid for an enzyme system related to the use of this vitamin in metabolic processes, widespread interest has centered on the synthesis of analogues which are chemically related to a metabolite but which seriously interfere with its normal function. There are now available a large number of these metabolite antagonists’ which in very minute amounts seriously interfere with the functions ofcell catalysts, such as vitamins and hormones. Such antagonists or displacing agents have now been synthesized for every known member of the vitamin B-complex. Martin, Tolman and Moss3 prepared the first antagonist to pteroylglutamic acid. They produced methylfolic acid, which was shown to be an effective displacer of folic acid with a ratio of inhibitor to metabolite of i : iso. The growth-promoting action of pteroylglutamic acid

PREVENTIVE EFFECTS OF VITAMIN B12 AND FOLIC ACID IN METHANOL-INDUCED RETINOPATHY IN AN ANIM AL MODEL
In order to identify the effects of vitamin B 12 and folic acid in reducing methanolinduced retinopathy, ERG waves were compared before and after methanol intoxication in rabbits. In this study 34 rabbits were divided into 4 groups. All groups received 4 g/kg of methanol intraperitoneally. In addition, the second, third and fourth groups received vitamin B 12 injection, oral folic acid and ...

Acne vulgaris is one of the most common skin disorders and Isotretinoin has widely been used as a treatment for its severe and resistant cases in recent years. Considering the controversy over the effect of systemic Isotretinoin on reducing the plasma level of folic acid and the negative effect of this reduction on health, this study was conducted to assess the influence of systemic Isotretinoi...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Effect of Folic Acid Based Iron Oxide Nanoparticles on Human Leukemic CCRF-CEM Cell Line
Abstract Background Nanoparticulate drug delivery systems have attracted significant attention in the field of cancer nanotechnology. This study determines the effect of folate-based Fe2O3 nanoparticles. This study aimed to decorate nanoparticles with folate (FA), a molecular ligand for ‘active’ targeting of cancerous cells and the application of modified-nanoparticles in cancer treatment. ...
